PROTECT. SHI
The PROTECT. SHI 9106 1823 93 acts as a crucial barrier, shielding sensitive components from the constant barrage of rock and mud on a drilling rig. It prevents damage from debris and impact, helping maintain system integrity and prevent costly downtime by taking the brunt of the abuse.

Full Technical Description
PROTECT. SHI 9106 1823 93 is basically the first line of defense for whatever it’s guarding, usually a sensor, a small valve, or a critical connection that’s pretty exposed. On a rig, especially downhole or near the feed, you get all sorts of rock chips, mud, and general crud flying around constantly. This shield takes the beating, keeps the sensitive bits from getting smacked or clogged up, which in turn helps prevent bigger issues like intermittent signals, pressure drops, or outright component failure down the line.
When this shield starts to go, you’ll usually see it cracking, bending, or just plain missing. What happens then is whatever it was protecting gets exposed to the elements it was designed to keep out. Say it’s guarding a proximity sensor on the feed beam; you might start getting erratic readings, or the feed might not stop where it should because rock dust is now packing into the sensor head. Or if it’s protecting a hydraulic line, that line might start chafing or getting nicked, leading to a slow leak you can’t quite pinpoint until it’s a full-blown spray.
Replacing this isn't usually a big job, but it's one of those things that often gets overlooked during a quick inspection. When you're doing your walk-around, especially after a tough shift, give these shields a good look. Check not just for cracks or holes, but also if it’s still mounted solid. Sometimes the bolts vibrate loose, or the mounting points get fatigued, and then the shield isn't doing its job even if it looks okay from a distance. A loose shield is almost as bad as no shield at all.
