BG 008 634 98D BEAM, TRACK is essentially the backbone for your rig's front jacking cylinders. It's what those big hydraulic rams push against when you're leveling out the machine or getting it stable before you start drilling. This beam takes a serious beating, carrying a good chunk of the rig's weight and all the dynamic loads from jacking up and down on uneven ground. It's got to be tough, because if it flexes too much, you're going to have other issues down the line.

When this beam starts giving up the ghost, you'll usually notice it first as a bit of instability when you're trying to level the rig. Maybe one side feels a little softer, or the jacking cylinders don't extend quite right. What often happens is you'll start seeing hairline cracks, especially around the welds or mounting points where the cylinders attach. If it gets really bad, you might even get a noticeable sag or twist in the front end, which throws off everything else and can put a lot of stress on the cylinder mounts themselves. That's a big red flag you don't want to ignore.

Look, replacing one of these is a big job, so prevention is key. You really need to be doing regular visual inspections, especially after any hard knocks or if the rig's been working on particularly rough terrain. Always check for those stress cracks, particularly around the cylinder attachment points and any gussets. And don't forget to give the mounting bolts a good once-over; they can loosen up over time with all that vibration and movement, which just makes the beam work harder and fail faster. A loose bolt can lead to a cracked beam quicker than you think.
