TUBO, OUTER

BG 002 664 03A TUBE, OUTER this is the main barrel, essentially, of whatever cilindro it belongs to on the rig. It's the big alojamento that holds everything else in place – the piston, the rod, the vedantes – and it's what gives the cilindro its stroke. Think of it as the backbone; it has to be straight and smooth on the inside for the piston to glide properly and for the vedantes to do their job holding pressure. If this thing is bent or scored, you're going to have issues.

When this TUBE, OUTER starts getting worn or damaged, you'll usually notice it first with hydraulic leaks, especially if the internal surface gets scored or pitted. The vedantes just can't hold against a rough surface anymore, and you'll see oil weeping or even streaming out. Sometimes, if it's really bad, or if the tubo itself gets distorted, you might get sluggish cilindro movement or even binding, because the piston can't move freely inside. I've seen situations where a bent tubo caused the rod to snap eventually due to side loading, which is a real headache to fix out in the field.

Substituir um destes não é um trabalho rápido, então quer ter certeza de que é realmente o problema antes de destruir tudo. Verifique sempre a haste e o pistão para os danos também, porque muitas vezes se o tubo é ruim, eles levaram uma surra também. Quando está colocando tudo de volta, preste muita atenção à instalação do vedante – um pequeno corte em um vedante durante a montagem pode levar a um vazamento imediato, e então está fazendo o trabalho duas vezes. Não se esqueça de sangrar corretamente o cilindro uma vez instalado; o ar no sistema vai lhe dar todos os tipos de dores de cabeça.
