ROT.CHUCK
The ROT.CHUCK 3115 1732 81 is the critical component that grips and rotates the drill rod on your rig. It transfers torque from the rotation unit to the drill string, ensuring efficient rock penetration. Keeping this part, part number 3115 1732 81, in good shape is key to consistent drilling performance and avoiding costly downtime.

Full Technical Description
ROT.CHUCK 3115 1732 81 is the business end of your rotation unit, the part that actually grabs onto the drill rod and spins it. It’s what transfers all that torque from the hydraulic motor or gearbox right into the string, making sure you’re actually cutting rock. Inside, you’ve got a set of jaws that clamp down, holding the rod steady while it rotates and takes the impact from the hammer. It's got to handle a lot of force, both rotational and axial, keeping everything aligned as you drill.
When this chuck starts to wear out, you’ll definitely notice it. Usually what happens is the internal jaws or their guides get sloppy, leading to poor rod grip. You might start seeing the drill rod slipping or chattering, especially when you’re really pushing it. Sometimes, you’ll feel excessive vibration coming up through the rig, or the rotation might just feel inconsistent, like it’s fighting itself. If it gets bad enough, you could even lose a rod down the hole because it wasn't held properly. That's a headache nobody wants.
Swapping one of these out isn't too complicated, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Always check the condition of the drive shaft splines or the keyway where the chuck mounts; they can get chewed up if the chuck was loose or worn for a while. Also, don't forget to properly grease the new chuck's internal components and make sure your hydraulic clamping pressure is spot-on after installation. A lot of guys just slap it on and forget those little details, but they make a big difference in how long the new one lasts.
