PISTON GUIDE 3115 3094 00 is the component that keeps the impact piston running true inside your rock drill. It’s essentially a bearing surface, guiding the piston's travel and making sure it doesn't wobble or bind up against the cylinder walls. This is absolutely critical for transferring all that percussive energy efficiently down to the bit. If the piston isn't guided right, you're losing power and just creating unnecessary wear on everything else in there.

When this guide starts to wear down, you'll usually notice it first as a drop in drilling penetration or an inconsistent impact. The drill just doesn't feel like it's hitting with its usual authority. What's happening is the piston isn't staying perfectly centered, so it starts to rub on the cylinder walls or the front head liner, creating friction and wasting energy. You might even hear a dull thudding or a slight clunking from the front of the drill, which is a pretty clear sign something's not aligned right. Ignoring it means you're just accelerating wear on more expensive parts, like the piston itself or the front head.

Swapping this out is a pretty standard job once you've got the front end of the drill opened up. When you're in there, always take a good look at the impact piston itself for any signs of scoring or uneven wear – that'll tell you how long the old guide was struggling. And here’s a common one: don't just slap the new guide in. Make sure you check the condition of the front head liner too. Often, if the guide is shot, that liner has taken a beating right along with it. A new guide won't fix a worn-out liner, and you'll be back in there sooner than you'd like.
