SLIDE BAR
The SLIDE BAR 3128 0034 07 is a key linear guide for your drill rig's feed carriage. It provides the stable track for the drill head's movement, crucial for straight drilling. Worn bars lead to excessive vibration and uneven feed, impacting overall drilling performance and component life.

Full Technical Description
SLIDE BAR 3128 0034 07 , this is one of those crucial pieces that basically acts as a linear guide for the feed carriage on your drill rig. It’s what the feed motor assembly rides on, keeping everything straight and true as the drill head pushes down or pulls up. Think of it like a rail, providing that solid, low-friction path for the entire feed mechanism to move along. Without it, or if it's worn, you'd have the whole feed system flopping around, which is obviously no good for drilling straight holes.
When these slide bars start to go, you'll usually notice it first as increased vibration or a bit of a 'clunking' sound coming from the feed system. The feed carriage won't track as smoothly; it might feel sluggish or even bind up a bit, especially if the wear isn't even. What happens is the clearances open up, and the carriage starts to rock or twist, putting uneven load on the feed motor and the drill string itself. You might even see the drill bit walking a bit more than usual when starting a hole, or the feed pressure fluctuating because the system isn't moving consistently.
Replacing one of these isn't too complicated, but it's not just about swapping out the bar itself. When you're in there, always take a good look at the mating surfaces on the feed carriage – the wear pads or rollers that ride on this bar. They often wear concurrently, and if you just replace the bar without addressing those, you'll be back in there sooner than you'd like. Also, make sure everything is properly lubricated after installation; a dry slide bar is a short-lived slide bar. And don't forget to check the alignment of the feed system once it's all back together; a slight twist can chew up a new bar fast.
