A worn bushing directly impacts drilling accuracy and rig reliability. As wear increases, the joint develops excessive play, making it difficult for the operator to collar a hole correctly or maintain drill alignment. This uncontrolled movement also transfers shock loads to welds, cylinders, and other joints, accelerating fatigue across the entire positioning system.

Check for looseness by watching the joint for any independent movement as the boom is operated. A clunking sound during articulation is also a clear sign of wear.
