TORQUE KEY
The TORQUE KEY 9106 1015 40 is a critical component for transmitting rotational power in your rig's drive systems. It locks shafts to gears or couplings, ensuring smooth and consistent power delivery. When it wears, you'll hear it, often as a tell-tale clunking noise under load, indicating it's time for a replacement.

Full Technical Description
TORQUE KEY 9106 1015 40 is what actually transmits the rotational force from one component to another, usually a shaft to a hub like a gear or a coupling. Without it, you’d just have a shaft spinning inside a loose gear, doing absolutely nothing. It’s a simple piece, but it’s critical for getting power where it needs to go, whether that's turning the drill string or driving a pump. Think of it as the mechanical lock that ensures everything rotates together, under load, exactly as it should.
When this key starts to wear down, or if it gets a bit loose in its keyway, you're going to notice some issues. Usually, what happens is you'll get a bit of play, and under load, that translates to a distinct 'clunking' sound coming from the gearbox or drive unit. It’s like the shaft is trying to turn the gear, but there's a slight delay or impact before it catches. If it really lets go, say it shears off, then whatever it was driving just stops, plain and simple, even if the motor's still humming along.
When you're replacing one of these, don't just pull the old one out and slap a new one in. Always take a good look at both keyways – the one on the shaft and the one in the hub or gear. If either of them is wallowed out or damaged from the old key hammering around, a new key won't last long. You need a tight fit. And make sure you clean out any burrs or old material from the keyways before you press the new key in; a smooth, clean fit is key to its longevity.
