BG 011 326 23B SENSOR, LEVEL is what keeps an eye on your hydraulic tank level, or sometimes the fuel tank, depending on the rig. It’s not just a fancy gauge; this sensor actually feeds critical fluid level data to the control system. That information is pretty vital for preventing things like pump cavitation from running low on oil, or just plain running out of fuel mid-shift. Basically, it’s the early warning system for your fluids, making sure things don't go sideways because of a simple oversight.

When one of these starts acting up, you'll usually notice some weird stuff happening with your fluid level readings on the display. It might jump around erratically, stick at a certain value even when you know the level is changing, or just flat-out give you a false low-level alarm. I've seen rigs shut down unnecessarily because the sensor was telling the system the tank was empty when it was actually full. Or worse, it tells you it's full when it's actually running dry, and then you've got a cavitating pump on your hands – that's a sound you definitely don't want to hear.

Replacing these isn't usually a huge job, but you do need to make sure you're getting the right one and that the float mechanism, if it's that type, isn't getting snagged inside the tank. Always check the wiring harness and connectors first; sometimes it's just a corroded pin causing the grief, not the sensor itself. And don't forget to clean around the mounting area thoroughly before you pull the old one out to prevent any crud from falling into your tank.
